6:30pm at Il Genovese – Sarzano location (Piazza Sarzano, within the market area of Pozzo Giano)
Genoese culture is also reflected in its traditional cuisine. That’s why we’re offering the young delegates a group activity where everyone can learn how to make pesto, the traditional Genoese basil sauce. A memory you’ll be able to relive at home!

5:00pm in front of the Symposium hall
A guided walk lasting about an hour and a half through Genoa’s most prestigious streets, with stops inside some splendid historic palaces. The tour will conclude on the ramparts of Monte Galletto, at the Castello d’Albertis, where the social dinner will be held

Side events: Cartography on Show
| The symposium provided the opportunity to organize Cartografia in mostra(Cartography on Show), in collaboration with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Office of the Municipality of Genova. From September 2 to 13, 2026, a series of events open to the public will be held in Genova, to provide a closer look at cartography, geodesy, and the disciplines involved in the measurement and representation of the space around us. |

Back to the future of yesterday - A History of maps and transformations in Genoa
The exibition has been set up for its second edition in the Symposium seat; it traces the evolution of cartography in Genoa from the 19th century to the present and beyond.
Accompanying the exhibition are several thematic conferences, among which two special events are particularly noteworthy due to their relevance to the topics covered during the Symposium and the prominence of the speakers.

Through a series of presentations by qualified experts, the focus turns to two frontiers that seem worlds apart: the depths of the ocean and outer space.
These two extreme environments present different problems but share the same challenge: to measure, locate, and represent what is not easily accessible to direct observation.

An opportunity to explore further how disciplines and technologies that may seem highly specialized are, in fact, the foundation of many everyday activities and tools used to understand, manage, and plan the territory. In particular emphasis will be placed on the requirements involved in the creation and standardization of cartography.
The event is free and open to the public. Reservation is required
